During the month of March, we have been promoting a national campaign called Spread the Word to End the Word. Spread the Word has been going on for the past 6 years and was started by Best Buddies and Special Olympics. Spread the Word seeks to raise awareness about the hurtful use of the word 'retarded.' Here at Watt Hardison we focus on promoting accepting, love, friendship, and inclusion towards ALL individuals.
Throughout this month we have sold tshirts and given students in grades 3-5 the opportunity to come into our classroom and help us learn. Every student who comes in, enjoys their experience and are always asking when they came come back. I know the students in our classroom love this! It is such a blessing to see the happiness and joy on every child's face.
